I Graduated from Georgetown in the 1970s. I’m Glad my 3 Kids all Went to University in Italy Instead

< 1 min read

In the past, Georgetown’s campus was simpler, with fewer dining and entertainment options, but still offered enjoyable experiences like a single pub and memorable musical events. The cost of attending college in the US has since become a major concern for Lisa Diletti and their family. In 2014, the high tuition fees at private universities like Georgetown, which now exceed $67k annually, contrasted sharply with the much lower costs of public universities. This financial burden, combined with the high cost of living, influenced  Lisa Diletti decision. Given these concerns and their children’s familiarity with Italian culture, the family chose for their kids to attend university in Italy. The tuition costs there were significantly lower, with annual fees around $7,300 for Florence University of the Arts and $11,500 for Polimoda.
