Jeffery Chao, 40, faces charges for felony child stealing/concealment and misdemeanor false report of an emergency after his 15-year-old daughter, Alison Chao, went missing earlier this month. Prosecutors allege that Chao hid his daughter and falsely reported her as missing. Alison was found outside a TV station on July 23. Chao was arrested on July 26 and also faced an additional count of conspiracy, which has since been dropped. Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón emphasized that such actions waste law enforcement resources and will not be tolerated.
