Top UK Universities have Thousands of Unfilled Places before A-level Results

< 1 min read

In the UK, leading universities are facing a significant number of unfilled undergraduate places just before A-level results are released. A survey found nearly 3,900 vacancies at Russell Group universities, up from 2,000 last year. This year, 18 of the 24 Russell Group universities have vacancies, including Manchester, Durham, and Liverpool. The clearing process, which allows students to apply for available spots after receiving exam results, is expected to be more utilized this year. A total of 23,000 course vacancies were reported earlier this week, slightly more than last year. With A-level results due on August 15, universities are preparing to adjust entry requirements and fill places through clearing.
