Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has warned parents against falsifying their children’s ages to meet university admission requirements. He stated that such practices lead children into corruption and crime. Oloyede made these remarks at an award event honoring Yusuf Olaolu Ali (SAN) at Obafemi Awolowo University, emphasizing that universities should promote excellence and scholarship. He clarified that the minimum age for university admission this year is 16, not 18, and criticized practices of age falsification and corner-cutting. Oloyede argued that children should complete 12 years of education before entering university and that universities should focus on developing students appropriately rather than rushing them into higher education prematurely.
