Robert Brians, 51, faces 31 years in prison after pleading guilty to attempted murder, kidnapping, and other charges related to a June 2020 incident in which he drove off a cliff with his 2-year-old twin daughters. Brians’ wife had alerted authorities that he was threatening to harm the children. Despite a heroic rescue by an officer, one twin suffered severe injuries. Brians initially pleaded not guilty but changed his plea to guilty in exchange for a reduced sentence. He will be sentenced in September.
