Teacher on Leave After Athletes Sustain Blisters, 3rd-Degree Burns in Weightlifting Class

< 1 min read

A teacher at Buford High School in South Carolina is on leave after making football players do exercises on a hot turf field, resulting in blisters and third-degree burns. The punishment was imposed for making cat sounds during weightlifting class. Despite players’ complaints about the burning turf and high temperatures, the teacher allegedly instructed them to continue as a means of toughening up. The exercises caused severe hand injuries, with some players suffering third-degree burns. The incident, which happened on a day with temperatures reaching 93°F, is under investigation by the sheriff’s office.
