Balancing work as an educator with parenting can be challenging, particularly when unable to be physically present for school drop-offs and pick-ups. This absence, coupled with the feeling of missing significant milestones, like the first day of school, can lead to guilt and a sense of disconnect. To bridge this gap, the author began sending handwritten notes to their children’s teachers. This gesture, though not a substitute for face-to-face interactions, allowed the author to express support and stay involved in their child’s education from afar. The positive response from the teacher helped alleviate feelings of guilt and fostered a strong, supportive relationship.
