Child advocates fight cuts to childcare, Head Start in state budget

Parents, educators, economists and childcare advocates from across Maine urged legislators on Monday not to cut vital programs to help childcare providers and parents in the state’s two-year budget.  The proposed budget would cut $30 million from a program to help financially support childcare workers, and $5 million more that helps them pay their own childcare costs.
