12-year-old Designs an Innovative App to Find Lost Children
At just 12 years old, Tomisin Ogunnubi captured the attention of the tech world with her innovative mobile application, My Locator. Designed in 2016, the app was created to help lost children find their way home using Google Maps. Since its launch, My Locator has been downloaded over 1,000 times on Google Play, proving its usefulness and impact.
The app offers essential features to ensure a child’s safety. It allows users to track their current location, highlighting nearby streets for easy navigation. Children can also save important destinations, such as their home or school, and receive step-by-step directions to get there. In case of an emergency, My Locator lets users send their real-time location to pre-saved contacts. Additionally, with the press of a button, the app can instantly alert the Lagos State Emergency Services, providing authorities with the child’s exact location to ensure a swift response.
