Bill that allows TN schools to require students to show citizenship status passes Senate committee

Tennessee students could soon be required to provide documentation of their U.S. citizenship status. Proposed by Rep. William Lamberth (R-Sumner County), SB 0836 is a bill that would allow Tennessee public and charter schools to require students to show proof of U.S. citizenship, legal immigration status, or that they are in the process of obtaining citizenship when enrolling.
