A new law went into effect on July 9 in West Virginia, and lawmakers intend to make it clear that the state has “zero tolerance” for child abuse. The law will create harsher penalties for individuals who have been convicted of child abuse. House Bill 2123 raises the penalties for parents, guardians, custodians, or any individuals in a position of trust who abuse or neglect a child.
