A state committee has ordered an audit of the Tolleson Union High School District following serious claims of financial mismanagement. But the investigation hasn’t stopped the district from moving forward with plans for a multi-million-dollar domed football stadium. Just a day after the audit was ordered, Superintendent Jeremy Calles confirmed the district still plans to build an $80 million domed football stadium, with a target opening in 2028. The funding comes from last year’s voter-approved $125 million school improvement bond, but nowhere on the bond explicitly stated the money would go toward those plans.
