Chaos, Fraud Warning as Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board Releases 2026 UTME Mock Results Amid Technical Glitches

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has released the results of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) mock test conducted on March 28, while cautioning candidates against fraudulent schemes promising score manipulation.
In a statement issued by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, the board disclosed that 224,597 candidates registered for the exercise, out of which 152,586 successfully sat for the test across 989 Computer-Based Test centres nationwide.
The board confirmed that candidates can check their results by sending “MOCKRESULT” via SMS to 55019 or 66019 using the phone number used during registration.
According to the statement, more than 20 CBT centres were delisted due to technical challenges encountered during the exercise, including issues affecting system performance and reliability.
The board also warned candidates to steer clear of individuals or groups, particularly on WhatsApp, claiming they can inflate scores or manipulate results. It described such claims as false and criminal, stressing that any candidate found engaging in such activities risks sanctions.
“Candidates are strongly advised to beware of fraudulent individuals or groups claiming to facilitate score inflation. Such claims are false and criminal,” the statement read.
It added that candidates involved in examination malpractice or related infractions may have their registration cancelled, while results could be withheld or withdrawn even after release.
The board acknowledged that the mock examination experienced technical glitches, including server failures, power outages, and delayed start times at several centres.
The mock exercise is designed to help candidates familiarise themselves with the Computer-Based Test system ahead of the main UTME, which is scheduled to commence on April 16, 2026.
