JAMB Extends Direct Entry Deadline, Adds New Centres to Boost Access to University Admissions Across Nigeria

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for the sale of Direct Entry application forms for the 2026/2027 academic session to May 8, 2026, in a move aimed at improving access to tertiary education and ensuring that no eligible candidate is excluded from the admission process.
According to the board, the extension from the earlier April 25 deadline is intended to provide additional time for prospective candidates to complete their registration. JAMB stated that the decision reflects its commitment to widening access and ensuring inclusivity in the admission process into higher institutions across Nigeria.
The board also announced the approval of five additional registration centres nationwide to ease congestion and improve accessibility for applicants, particularly in high-demand locations. The new centres are located in Kwara, Ogun, Oyo, and Lagos states, including the Centre for Open and Distance Learning at the University of Ilorin, Bells University of Technology in Ota, Olabisi Onabanjo University Centre in Ago-Iwoye, the Prof. Usman E-Learning Centre at the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo, and Human Development Initiatives in Lagos.
JAMB further confirmed that the Lagos centre will commence operations on April 30, 2026. It added that all JAMB offices nationwide, including Professional Registration Centres and Professional Testing Centres, remain open to support ongoing Direct Entry registration.
The board explained that these measures are part of broader efforts to ensure efficiency, reduce barriers to registration, and support equal access to higher education opportunities for all qualified candidates seeking admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
