How Insecurity and School Closures Are Putting Nigerian Children at Risk

The Federal Government has warned that continued school closures caused by insecurity are endangering children’s right to education and threatening Nigeria’s long-term stability. Speaking in Abuja, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Dr. George Akume, said shutting schools in unsafe communities not only disrupts learning but also exposes children to wider protection risks, including exploitation, displacement, and long-term educational setbacks.
