UK Government to Issue Long-Awaited Apology to Survivors of Forced Adoption Scandal

The UK government is set to issue a long-awaited formal apology to survivors of forced adoption, acknowledging decades of separation that saw an estimated 185,000 children taken from unmarried mothers between 1949 and 1976 in England and Wales, according to officials. Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson said the apology will be delivered on behalf of the state following years of campaigning by affected families and advocacy groups.
