< 1 min read

A mother from Sudan returned from a trip to find her husband and two young children missing, a Melbourne court heard. Her husband, facing trial for allegedly deceiving her into leaving Australia after withdrawing sponsorship for her visa, reportedly rearranged their flights home and took the children without informing her. The court was told that the husband informed immigration authorities that he had separated from his wife, resulting in the cancellation of her visa. The mother was unable to see her children for 16 months. The man, charged with the commonwealth offence of exit trafficking, pleaded not guilty, denying any deception allegations.
