According to prosecutors, recently revealed video footage and documents indicate that “religious extremism” served as the motivation behind parent blogger Ruby Franke’s abuse of her children.

The Washington County Attorney’s Office in Utah has disclosed various videos and documents concerning a child abuse case involving Ruby Franke, a prominent parent blogger. These materials, released recently, include Franke’s diary, which sheds light on the alleged religious extremism motivating Franke and her associate Jodi Hildebrandt to subject Franke’s children to what prosecutors term “horrific abuse.” Franke’s journal, portions of which were made public, chronicles months of abuse inflicted on the children, deprivation of basic necessities, and also suggests a religious aspect to the abuse.
