Bomb Threat Triggers Lockdown and Evacuation at Western Sydney School
Hundreds of students at Bonnyrigg High School in Western Sydney were evacuated on Thursday morning after the school received a threat, leading to a full lockdown. The incident occurred around 11:15 am, prompting the school to call police and activate its emergency evacuation plan.
In a statement, Principal Reece Hooke confirmed that all students and staff were moved safely and calmly to designated evacuation areas. “All students and staff were safe,” he said, adding that their safety and well-being remain the school’s highest priorities.
A spokesperson for NSW Police stated that the threat was unspecified at the time, but serious enough for the school to initiate lockdown procedures. Police searched the school grounds and found nothing suspicious. According to reports from the Daily Mail, the threat came in the form of a bomb threat email.
Parents were asked not to contact their children during the evacuation, which led to a wave of concern on social media.
