Delta Postpones Asaba Schools’ Resumption, Directs Others to Resume Monday

The Delta State government has announced that all public and private primary and secondary schools in the state will start their 2024/2025 academic year on Monday, September 9, 2024. However, schools in Oshimili South Local Government Area will begin on September 23, 2024. Boarders are to return a day earlier, on Sunday, September 8. This information was shared by Augustine Oghoro, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, on behalf of the State Commissioners for Primary and Secondary Education, Kingsley Ashibogwu and Rose Ezewu.
The Delta State government has scheduled the start of the 2024/2025 academic year for all public and private primary and secondary schools on September 9, 2024, except in Oshimili South, where it will begin on September 23. Boarders should return on September 8. This announcement was made by Augustine Oghoro, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.
Parents and guardians are advised to prepare their children for school, as the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education will conduct resumption tests on September 12, 2024, which will be part of the students’ assessment. The ministry warned that any deviation from this directive by teachers will not be tolerated and that the Commissioners and Permanent Secretary will oversee compliance across the state.
