Eight Secondary School Students Nabbed for Cultism in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested eight students of Ifo High School for allegedly engaging in cult activities within the school premises. The arrested students, aged between 15 and 16, were identified as Omolaso Waris, Bennett Bolawatife, Aluko Taiwo, Akinola Ifeoluwa, Azeez Hassan, Kilani Babatunde (aka Soldier), Kehinde Aluko, and Fasedemi Samuel.
Their arrest followed a report by the school’s Principal, Mr. Alako Oluwole, and a teacher, Mr. Akinseku Oloruntoba Julius, who alerted the police about the students’ involvement in cult-related activities, including extortion of fellow students.
During interrogation, the students allegedly confessed to being recruited into a cult group called Future Guys (F. T. G) by two Senior Secondary School One (SSS 1) students, Ebenezer Ope (the group’s President) and Ebenezer Tobi.
Ogun State Police spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest and stated that investigations have begun to determine the extent of cult activities in the school. The students will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further inquiry.
Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has ordered that the students be brought before him for further interviews, where they will also receive counselling and mentoring. He reiterated his commitment to eradicating cultism from schools and called on parents, teachers, and community leaders to collaborate in maintaining discipline and order among students.
