An 11-year-old boy in Volusia County, Florida, has been arrested after making an online threat to “shoot up” Campbell Middle School in Daytona Beach.

According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, the FBI alerted local authorities after spotting the comment on TikTok. Deputies quickly responded to the child’s home, where they determined that the boy did not have access to any weapons capable of carrying out the threat.

The boy was taken into custody on Saturday and transported to the Family Resource Center for processing. Authorities emphasized that while no one was in immediate danger, all threats involving schools are treated with utmost seriousness.

This case underscores the growing concern around children’s use of social media and the consequences of online behavior. It also highlights the need for digital education and parental guidance to prevent such incidents before they occur.

Every child has the right to protection, education, and rehabilitation, even when they make grave mistakes. Children in conflict with the law must be guided toward accountability, understanding, and second chances, not condemnation.
