CCSD Fires High School Theater Teacher Accused of Sexual Assault Against Former Students

The Clark County School District (CCSD) has terminated 35-year-old Anthony Coffield, a high school theater teacher, following allegations that he sexually assaulted two former students. Coffield was officially fired on Monday, December 8, the district confirmed. Coffield, previously the theater director at Green Valley High School, faces multiple criminal charges. He was first arrested on Wednesday, November 26, and booked into Henderson Detention Center for sexual assault and sexual conduct with a student.
Allegations and Evidence
Court documents and forensic reports obtained by Channel 13 detail the investigation into Coffield’s conduct. In the case involving the first student, a forensic test on the student’s clothing revealed DNA consistent with Coffield or a paternal male relative.
Following this, additional allegations emerged involving a second student at Spring Valley High School, where Coffield previously worked. The documents indicate that Coffield allegedly assaulted this student between April 1, 2016, and May 31, 2016. Coffield had been a full-time teacher at Spring Valley High School since 2013 before transferring to Green Valley High School in August 2022.
District Response and Legal Proceedings
CCSD has confirmed Coffield’s termination and emphasized its commitment to student safety and cooperation with law enforcement. Coffield is scheduled to appear in court again on Wednesday, December 17, as the investigation and legal process continue. The allegations have drawn attention to both schools where Coffield worked, prompting district officials to review internal procedures related to staff oversight and student protection.
