JAMB Raises Alarm as Over 1.5 Million Score Below 200 in 2025 UTME

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the 2025 UTME results, revealing that over 1.5 million of the 1,955,069 candidates scored below 200, representing 75% of the total candidates.
Only 420,415 candidates scored above 200, while less than 1% crossed the 300 mark.
Key Highlights from the 2025 UTME Analysis:
a. Underage Candidates
- 40,247 underage candidates were allowed to participate. However, just 467 (1.16%) met the threshold for “exceptional ability” as defined by JAMB.
b. Exam Infractions and Malpractices
- 97 candidates were confirmed to have committed exam infractions.
- 2,157 are under ongoing investigation for suspected malpractices.
c. Absentees and Technical Issues
- 71,701 candidates were absent.
- Candidates facing biometric challenges are under review and may be rescheduled.
- Some results, including those of blind and JEOG candidates, are still being processed.
JAMB announced that a press conference will be held later this week to provide individual result access and address public concerns.
