Kano School Horror: Vice Principal Accused of Sexually Abusing 6-Year-Old Quadruplets

The alleged sexual abuse of four young girls by a schoolteacher in Kano State has sparked fresh concerns about child protection and safeguarding in Nigerian schools. The case has also renewed calls for stronger safety measures for children in learning environments.
Lawal Ayuba Madaki, father of the children, accused a teacher he trusted with his daughters’ education and moral upbringing of betraying that trust. The suspect, identified as Kamal Abdulmuminu, also known as “Uncle Kamal,” reportedly served as a teacher and vice principal at Al-Hadeed Private School in Ungogo Local Government Area.
According to the family, the abuse came to light after the children repeatedly complained of stomach pain. Their mother later noticed unusual symptoms in one of the girls and questioned her. The six-year-old allegedly revealed that their teacher had been abusing them during school hours.
Medical examinations at two hospitals reportedly confirmed sexual abuse. Police later arrested the suspect after the family filed a formal complaint.
The girls are quadruplets born in 2019. Three of them are female, while their brother does not currently live with the family. Another young daughter from the same family also attends the school.
Meanwhile, the case has raised wider safeguarding concerns. Child rights advocates in Kano say many schools lack proper child protection systems. They warned that children often remain vulnerable because schools fail to enforce strict monitoring and reporting measures.
Aisha Haruna Kabuga, a child rights activist, called for stronger government action. She urged Kano State authorities to establish a Child Rights Act implementation committee to improve the handling of abuse cases.
In response, the Ungogo Local Government Council ordered the closure of the school pending further investigation. Authorities say the action will help ensure justice for the children and allow a thorough investigation into the allegations.
