Lagos Adopts Single Academic Calendar for All Schools

The Lagos State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Jamiu Alli-Balogun, has announced that an approved academic calendar for the state’s schools will be available within two weeks.
This follows the adoption of a harmonized academic calendar by key education stakeholders during a final meeting held at the Education Resource Centre in Ojodu. The initiative aims to promote uniformity across all schools in Lagos State.
In a statement by Adepeju Adeyemi of the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA), it was revealed that the meeting marked the last stage before the official release of the calendar by the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.
Commissioner Alli-Balogun also stressed the importance of teacher welfare, highlighting a new policy that includes a mandatory two-month break at the end of the third term.
The 2025/2026 academic session is set to begin with renewed structure and consistency across schools in the state.
