Defilement: Ondo Magistrate Court Remands Doctor, Others for Abortion on 10-year-old

An Ondo State Magistrate Court in Akure has ordered the remand of Adebowale Adegboye, Idowu Akinseye, and Dr. Israel Ojo in prison custody over their alleged involvement in the abuse of a 10-year-old girl. Adegboye, the affected child’s biological father, and Akinseye, her stepfather, are accused of having carnal knowledge of the child at different times. Dr. Ojo faces charges for unlawfully procuring an abortion for the affected child.
The defendants have been arraigned on multiple charges, including incest, abortion, and indecent assault, under various sections of the Ondo State Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law and the Criminal Code. The charge sheet details disturbing allegations, including unlawful acts committed by Adegboye and Akinseye, and the conspiracy involving Dr. Ojo.
Magistrate Grace Alphonso has adjourned the case to May 22, 2025, pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution. The court has ordered the defendants to remain in custody at a correctional facility until further proceedings.
