Parents Accuse Ogun School of Unauthorized Incisions on Children

Two parents in Arepo, Ogun State, have accused a private school of carrying out unauthorized incisions on their children’s bodies, resulting in health complications.

One of the affected parents, Abosede, discovered an incision on her four-year-old son, Alamis, on March 2 after he complained of persistent itching in his stomach. Three weeks later, he fell ill, and doctors confirmed that the incision had caused an infection.

“He talks a lot, so if he was conscious, he would have told me who did it. The third week after I saw it, he fell sick, and I took him to the hospital where they said the incision caused the infection,” Abosede said.

Another parent, Oluwatoyin Adurogboye, observed changes in her three-year-old daughter, Karla, when she returned from school on February 28. Karla fell ill and was eventually placed on oxygen due to breathing difficulties. While in the hospital, Adurogboye noticed an incision on her daughter’s back. When asked about it, Karla could only mutter ‘my teacher’ five times before stopping.

Upon confronting the school’s proprietress, the parents were met with denials. The proprietress claimed the CCTV cameras were non-functional during the time in question and refused to let the child identify the alleged perpetrator.

Abosede’s family has taken legal action, while Karla’s parents have demanded a thorough investigation and full access to the CCTV footage.

The proprietress did not respond to calls for comments but had sent a message promising to return the call, which she had yet to do at the time of reporting.
