15-Year-Old Charged After Fatal Stabbing of Teenager in Rouse Hill

A second 15-year-old boy has been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of a 17-year-old at Rouse Hill in Sydney earlier this week. Officers from the Riot Squad arrested the boy on Tuesday night after executing a search warrant at a Rouse Hill home around 9:45pm. He was taken to Castle Hill Police Station, where he was charged with murder.

The teenager appeared before Parramatta Children’s Court on Wednesday morning. He became emotional as he saw his parents seated in the courtroom. He did not apply for bail and will remain in custody. Magistrate Megan Heywood noted that investigators needed more time to gather and provide evidence to his legal team. The boy has been ordered to appear again on January 23, 2026, via video link from Cobham Youth Centre.

Outside court, the boy’s parents walked behind his lawyer, Joseph Nashed, who declined to comment.

Investigation Continues

Police are still working to establish what led to the confrontation at Bruce Purser Reserve on Monday afternoon. Superintendent Naomi Moore confirmed that officers believe around six people were nearby at the time of the incident.

“We now have three families that will not have their children at home for Christmas,” she said, acknowledging the profound impact on everyone involved.

Emergency services responded to the reserve on Monday after reports of a stabbing. Paramedics treated the 17-year-old for a wound to his leg, but he died at the scene. Another 15-year-old boy handed himself in later that night, accompanied by a parent. According to police, he allegedly told officers, “I just stabbed another boy in the leg.” He was charged with murder and briefly faced court on Tuesday, where it was revealed that a group of three youths allegedly approached the older boy while wearing balaclavas.

Community Grieves

Flowers, handwritten notes and a soccer ball have been placed at the reserve in tribute to the 17-year-old whose life was lost. The incident has shaken the Rouse Hill community and raised questions about how a conflict involving young people escalated so quickly. The investigation remains active, with officers continuing to interview witnesses and review evidence.
