Principal Detained in Connection with Stampede at Ibadan Children’s Carnival

The Oyo State Police Command has detained Mr. Abdullahi Fasasi, the principal of Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan. Fasasi was invited by the police on Wednesday and has been held since then.

Reports indicate that the principal’s detention is related to the stampede that occurred at the school on Wednesday. It is reported that at least 32 children lost their lives in the tragic incident in Ibadan.

The stampede happened during a children’s carnival organized by Naomi Silekunola, the estranged wife of the Ooni of Ile-Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, at Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan.

A source close to the principal stated that Fasasi was invited by the police around 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday and complied with the invitation.
