Four students at a Rhode Island high school are facing charges after they allegedly assaulted a classmate with special needs in the locker room before a football game. The investigation into the incident at Rogers High School began Friday after Newport Police were notified of video recordings showing a student with special needs being assaulted inside the boys’ locker room. Police say the videos show the affected child being struck repeatedly while pleading for the assault to stop and being whipped with what appears to be a leather belt.
