A Fulton County mother, Candace Adeyemi, expressed her frustration after her 7-year-old daughter, Alayah, missed her bus stop and was left alone by the bus driver. The driver, unaware of Alayah’s missed stop, told her to get off at the end of the route. When Candace was notified that Alayah hadn’t arrived home, she rushed back to look for her and found her walking down the street in tears. Candace believes the bus driver should have taken Alayah back to her school instead of leaving her at a random location. Fulton County Schools acknowledged that the driver broke protocol and stated that retraining would occur. Following the incident, Alayah’s parents decided to enroll her in counseling and will not allow her to ride the bus again, raising concerns about the safety of other children as well.
