A child was rescued from a collapsed sand pit over the weekend, the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office says. They’re saying the situation is a stark reminder of the dangers of digging in the sand. On Friday, July 4, people gathered at the Silver Lake Sand Dunes in Mears to watch the fireworks. One of which was a 9-year-old boy from Fenton.
