A family missed out on their dream vacation all because of a 1-centimeter tear in their son’s passport

< 1 min read

February 8 2024- The Burton family’s planned New Year’s trip from England to Spain turned distressing when their son, Jake, was denied boarding on a Ryanair flight due to a tear on his passport. Despite having checked in, passed through security, and reached the gate, the family was informed about the passport issue, preventing Jake from flying. The family spent $1,500 on the trip and encourages others to check for passport damage before flying. While Ryanair stated that the 19-year-old passenger was correctly refused travel due to passport damage, the UK government defines a damaged passport as one unusable for proof of identity, including tears.
