Alabama’s state superintendent, Eric Mackey, has announced a review of the use of letter grades on annual school and district report cards after five years of implementation. Mackey informed state board members during a work session that a task force comprising 20 individuals would be assembled to assess the effectiveness of these grading measures. The task force, still in the process of formation, is expected to propose potential changes to the board by winter. However, any approved alterations to the report card system would not take effect until November 2026, aligning with the measures for the 2025-26 school year.
