After giving birth to her first child in October 2019, a wedding photographer faced unexpected challenges due to the pandemic, which led to her becoming a stay-at-home parent. Moving multiple times for her husband’s job and dealing with the closure of daycares made it difficult for her to rebuild her business. She eventually had a second child, and after five years, she finally sent both kids to full-time daycare, allowing her to reclaim some independence. During her time as a stay-at-home parent, she struggled with the overwhelming demands of constant childcare, feeling “touched out” and often unable to take even basic breaks, like showering. The emotional and logistical labor of managing daily tasks while attending to her children’s needs left her mentally exhausted and isolated.
