A study conducted in Spain found that 4- to 5-year-old children who were breastfed for 1 to 8 months exhibited better cognitive abilities than their peers who were not breastfed. These children demonstrated higher IQs, improved working memory, and enhanced nonverbal skills, with these benefits remaining significant even after accounting for maternal IQ and attachment issues. The research, published in the International Journal of Early Childhood, analyzed data from 613 children and assessed their cognitive abilities using standardized tests.
