Changing School Start and End Time Could Address School Bus Issues, Report Says

< 1 min read

A review by Deloitte, commissioned by the Ministry of Education, suggests that some elementary and secondary schools in Ottawa should adjust their start and end times to improve bus efficiency. The Ottawa Student Transportation Authority (OSTA), which oversees student transportation for the Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB) and the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB), faces a $7 million funding shortfall. Deloitte’s report, released by OSTA, outlines eight recommendations to reduce costs and increase operational efficiency. Ottawa parents have faced repeated bus cancellations due to driver shortages, prompting the review to find solutions for a more effective system.
