A study published in Deutsches Ärzteblatt International links childhood trauma to various health issues in adulthood, including depression, anxiety disorders, cancer, myocardial infarction, diabetes, stroke, and chronic pulmonary disease. Led by Johanna Klinger-König from the University of Greifswald, the study found that childhood trauma was most strongly associated with depression and anxiety, with these links being particularly pronounced in younger individuals. The study highlights that people with a history of childhood trauma were more likely to develop these conditions later in life, and the associations were stronger among younger participants, regardless of the type of trauma experienced.
