Copyrightus Infringio! Public Library ends Harry Potter-Themed Child Literacy Program After Legal Threat from Warner Brothers

< 1 min read

The Teton County Library in Jackson, Wyoming, is ending its Harry Potter-themed literacy programs due to a cease-and-desist letter from Warner Bros. The company, which previously supported such events, is now rebooting the franchise and wants to eliminate unauthorized content. The library’s staff was unaware that their free educational events constituted copyright infringement. In the past, they had been encouraged to host these activities. Despite the legal issues, the library reminds kids that they can still enjoy other books.
