Parents of Muslim children at Beeches Primary School in Peterborough criticized the school after their children observing Ramadan were asked to spend their lunch breaks at home due to a staff shortage. About 30 children in years 5 and 6 were affected. Head of school Will Fisk mentioned they were working on supporting working parents whose children were fasting. Parents found this impractical and inconvenient, especially for those who work and don’t live nearby. They expressed disappointment, citing the school’s multicultural ethos. The school stated they value partnership with parents and are working on finding solutions to support fasting children and working parents.
