A survey led by UCLA happiness researcher Lisa Walsh reveals that friendships significantly influence the happiness of young single adults. The study, which included 1,073 American adults aged 18 to 24, found that those satisfied with their friendships reported higher overall life satisfaction. Key findings indicated that happier respondents had more close friends, better physical health, and lower depression and anxiety levels. The research highlights the importance of friendship quality, especially for those navigating uncertainties in young adulthood, as many face personal challenges like starting college or finding jobs. With 41% of Americans aged 18-29 identified as single, understanding their social and emotional needs is crucial.
