From a young age, Ike Robi knew he wanted to be a nanny, inspired by his sister’s experiences at Norland College. Despite being an unusual goal for a sporty boy in Brighton, he felt it aligned with his caring nature, having grown up adopted and valuing nurturing over blood relations. Getting into Norland was challenging, requiring him to improve his grades, but he received strong support from friends and family. As the only male in his class of 300, he felt welcomed, though he initially struggled with holding infants. His first full-time role was caring for a 1-year-old girl, which developed into a meaningful relationship. Despite facing stereotypes about male caregivers, he remains focused on his passion for childcare, enjoying sports and imaginative play with children. While some families have hesitated to hire him due to his gender, he feels confident that many opportunities exist in the field.
