JAMB Names Nigerian Universities Allegedly Involved in Illegal Admissions

< 1 min read

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) accused several tertiary institutions, including UNN, UNIABUJA, NOUN, KWASU, and Ambrose Alli University, of conducting illegal admissions. This accusation was made during an admission policy meeting in Abuja, chaired by JAMB Registrar Is-haq Oloyede. He mentioned that the Nigerian government granted waivers to approximately one million candidates admitted illegally between 2017 and 2020. Despite this, Oloyede noted ongoing illegal admissions and highlighted specific instances of irregularities, such as admission outside the JAMB Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) by NOUN. He warned that institutions and candidates involved in illegal admissions after the 2020 waiver would receive no support from JAMB.
