Gateway Church announced that James Morris and his wife, Bridgette, are stepping down from their positions and future leadership roles. The church’s elders, who recently met with the Morrises, believe they are called to serve as senior pastors elsewhere eventually but have decided to part ways with Gateway Church for now. James Morris was set to become the lead pastor in 2025, succeeding his father, Robert Morris, who resigned in June amid allegations of historical sexual abuse. Robert Morris, who founded the church in 2000, has not been criminally charged.
