On Wednesday night, hundreds gathered at Wheaton High School to question Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Superintendent Thomas Taylor about his plans to tackle educational inequities affecting Black and brown students. The Black and Brown Coalition for Educational Equity and Excellence organized the town hall to voice concerns and emphasize the need for change. During the event, community members raised issues such as hate-bias incidents and disparities in academic performance. Taylor acknowledged the varying student experiences across schools and admitted that progress in addressing disparities in underserved areas has been insufficient.
