Parents Speak on Class Action Lawsuit Against CCSD Over Special Education

A class action lawsuit has been filed against the Clark County School District (CCSD) and the Nevada Department of Education, alleging they violated federal laws concerning special needs students. Families claim a “systemic failure” in the education system, particularly since 2020, which has hindered their children’s access to necessary services. Parents expressed their frustrations at a recent news conference, highlighting issues exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, such as inadequate special education services and lack of proper evaluations. The lawsuit details failures in providing individualized education programs, behavioral support, and proper training for staff. Lead attorney Lori Rogich and her team emphasize the urgent need for systemic change to address these issues, as the lawsuit includes complaints from nine families and names twelve children.
