James Hughes, a former Boy Scouts of America troop leader in northeast Iowa, has been arrested for allegedly engaging in inappropriate sexual conduct with at least five victims over a decade. Hughes, also a licensed physical therapist, allegedly committed these acts while serving as a troop leader. Allegations include inappropriate touching during physical therapy sessions and encouraging scouts to undress under false pretenses. The Boy Scouts of America promptly revoked his membership upon learning of the allegations in October 2021. Hughes is currently held in Howard County Jail on a $46,000 cash bond.
