A teenager was placed in a youth home after allegedly threatening to shoot up a classroom in what police called a “valid” threat, police said.
The threat caused Jonesville Community Schools in Hillsdale County to close on Friday.
According to Michigan State Police, a 14-year-old boy at Jonesville made multiple specific threats to another student on Jan. 30 that he wanted to shoot up a classroom.
“The suspect was specific with his threat, identifying the classroom, which hour he would carry out the attack, and what type of weapon he would use. The suspect stated that he would carry out the attack utilizing a weapon that he received as a Christmas present last year,” police wrote in a statement.
