Strike Crisis Averted: Massive Deal Brings 30,000 LAUSD Workers Back to Schools

Chaos was narrowly avoided in Los Angeles after the Los Angeles Unified School District confirmed that campuses will open Tuesday following a late-night breakthrough agreement with SEIU Local 99, representing about 30,000 essential workers. The tentative deal, featuring a 24% wage increase, expanded health benefits, and the reversal of planned layoffs, brings relief to families and staff after days of tension over a looming district-wide strike.
